Undergraduate Internships

Each year, University of Idaho undergraduate students receive internships to work with faculty members on current research projects. Interns received up to $1000 per academic year in hourly wages. Besides gaining practical engineering experience, interns put classroom theory into practice.

A yearly symposium provides the opportunity for the interns to present the results of their work to their peers.

Fall applications are due by at least September 30,  EXTENDED. Turn them in at NIATT in the Engineering Physics Building, room 115A. Turn them in as soon as possible

Applications require the signature of a sponsoring faculty member who is doing research through NIATT during 2006-2007 or planning to apply for grant funding elswhere.

What have past interns done?

• Kevin Young worked with Dr. Michael Dixon collecting traffic data and completing simulation runs.
• Erik Skaugset helped develop and test an integrated simulation model for Ada County, Idaho, on a project with Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Rahim.
• Richard Duldulao, a computer science undergraduate, worked with Dr. Brian Johnson on a team to develop NIATT's innovative Controller Interface Device, which was later licensed to McCain Traffic Supply.
• Yuri Meresczak began as an undergraduate intern on a freeway incident management project with Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Rahim. After graduation, he entered graduate school and was selected as NIATT's student-of-the-year in 2005. He now works with Kittelson and Associates.
• Scott Kahre, Tara Tschauder, Scott Anderson, and Eric Cegnar all worked as interns on NIATT's FutureTruck teams.
