ATTENTION! Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior and Graduate Students!

The Materials Science and Engineering Department is fortunate in having a scholarship endowment of about $4.6 million, which generates about $288,000 per year for scholarships. A major component of this sum is the Ziegler endowment, which provides up to $168,000 per year for scholarships in our Metallurgical and Materials Science programs.  If you are a fulltime student, a resident of the State of Idaho, show financial need and your grade point average is above a 2.0, you may qualify for the Ziegler Scholarship.  Currently our Ziegler scholarship begins at $1500 per semester for each qualifying student.

The new Hayes Scholarship, a $1.25M endowment for Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering students. This endowment will generate approximately $50,000 per year for students in Metallurgy, Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering.

OREGON RESIDENTS:  If you are a student from Oregon and wish to enroll in our Materials Science and Engineering programs, you are eligible for the Oregon Out-of-State Tuition Waiver.  You must show proof of residence in Oregon.

Keep in mind that you can complete a dual degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering by taking only 1 additional semester of classes.

Out of State Tuition waivers are also available.
