Class Notes - Class 20 (Wednesday, October 24, 2001)

The purpose of class today is to learn to forecast traffic volumes using the TRAFFIX software tool and to assess the performance of the existing network using the existing volume and geometry conditions.

Complete the tasks listed below.

Task 1. What reports are produced by TRAFFIX?  List these reports by name in the space below.

Task 2. Select Options -> Global Data-> Reports.  Click on Select All on the dialog box.  This means that all reports will be generated when you run a forecast.

Task 3. What is a Forecast?  How do you run a Forecast in TRAFFIX?  Briefly describe in the space provided below.

Task 4. Run a forecast for the existing scenario.  Briefly note below the results shown in the log file.

Task 5. Using the reports produced by TRAFFIX, verify that your input data are correct.  Briefly describe below your verification process and which reports you used.

Task 6. Again using the reports produced by TRAFFIX, assess the performance of the existing system.  List each report that you used below.  Describe the results of your assessment below.

Task 7. After reviewing the information provided in all of the reports, list those reports below that provide relevant information for the analysis of an existing system.
