Students

The following lists the students that are currently enrolled in CE 573 for the fall semester 2001.

Students taking the class through the Engineering Outreach (video) program are noted with a * next to their name.  If you are a video student, I strongly encourage you to stay in touch with one or more of the on-campus students to exchange information, to ask questions, or simply to share ideas and thoughts regarding the class.

I would like to request each student to provide me with a one paragraph summary of your background and interests.  I will add this information to the third column in the table below.

Bandugula, Sharat Chandra sharat27@yahoo.com I am Bandugula Sharat Chandra.  I am from India, orignally from Hyderabad, which is in the southern part of India.  I have done my undergraduate work in civil engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad.  I attended a transportation engineering course in my third year as an undergraduate.  I have studied pavement design, airport planning,  and railways in that course.  The key issue in transportation is traffic congestion in my country.
Basavaraju, Purushotham Murali purushotham_m@hotmail.com
Keecheril, Sajeev Kumar keec3457@uidaho.edu

saju_bang@yahoo.com

Lu, Chunyu lu0371@uidaho.edu
Marhaba Omer omer9545@uidaho.edu I am a graduate student here majoring in pavements.  I am from China.  I have been a transportation engineer in China and I worked on construction sites for four years.  But I haven't taken a course like this.  We just designed and then constructed.
Porandla, Raju rajsalivan@yahoo.com I am Porandia Raju.  I did my project on transportation engineering in the design of pedestrian signals and study of delays.  I have to do many things to improve our transportation system which has had little planning and people don't have much knowledge of traffic signals and rules.
Ream, Chhang ream7249@uidaho.edu
Rust, Philip Samuel rust4047@uidaho.edu Second year graduate school in traffic engineering.  Attend UI's Traffic Signal Summer Camp.  Previous courses include public transportation, traffic flow theory, and traffic engineering.  Worked for private traffic engineering firm this summer.  Key issues: public transportation loses money; some planning model forecasts don't make sense.
Sabbisetti, Ravi Krishna sabb5300@uidaho.edu I am S. Ravi Krishna from India.  I did my undergraduate studies in civil engineering from V.R. Siddartha Engineering college, Nagarjuna University, Nitayawada, Andhra Pradesh.  I personally did traffic assessment as a project for N.H. 7 in India.  Also I worked as a Survey Engineer for N.H. 5 freeway at Vijayawada.  In my home country, traffic is mainly two wheelers in cities and there are very few freeeways.  And in towns and villages (rural areas), roads are not good.
Sarepalli, Satya Sai Kumar rush2sai@rediffmail.com
Seelam, Vijaysimha Narsing Rao seelamvijay@rediffmail.com I am Vijaysimha.  I completed by B.E. degree in civil engineering from Osmania University.  My experience in transportation engineering is in highway design with some experience in railway and airport design.  I think that there are quite a lot of problems in my hometown.  There is a lot of traffic congestion and accidents no proper pedestrian crossings and no separate freeways.
Sisodia, Ajay Kumar Singh ajaysisodia@email.com I am Ajay Sisodia, student in M.S. in the geography course.  I am basically concentrating on GIS and analysis of remote-sensed data for the research work during my graduate studies.  I am a civil engineer.  With the help of three other students, our class worked on a project to design the road to connect a village for the transportation engineering department.  Also transportation engineering was one subject during two semesters.
Vilhelmsson, Jens Gunnar jenswil-0@student.Luth.se I am an exchange student from Sweden.  This is my last semester.  I hope to learn more English.  I have read some courses but not so much about planning but how you build and how the input data reflect the final product.  I have traveled a lot and have seen a lot of different kinds of transportation.  Key issues are transportation and the environment.
