About the BASIC SURVEYING Workshop: CEUs are available upon request, at least 3 weeks prior to the class. This course is a Core class for the Road Scholar Program, Level I. The workshop covera the basic elements of leveling and setting grades for highway projects. Topics include establishing grades and elevations for sew--jaher systems, culverts, drainage ditches and road surfaces. Surveying equipment used during this course includes construction levels, laser levels, hand levels and other equipment used in the field. The workshop includes hands-on instruction. Please bring your calculator and survey equipment. An automatic level & rod and a transit or theodolite is needed for every four students. If you don’t have any surveying equipment, there should be someone with whom to share. Who Should Attend the Surveying Course: Everyone who has responsibility for maintenance and/or construction of roads and streets should find this presentation extremely beneficial. This would include: city, county, highway district, state, tribal, utility, contractors, forest service, BLM, and other federal employees that work on or by a public roadway. Course Outline:
