For the first Ethical Dilemma of the reading, write a one page (maximum) memorandum describing which one of the alternatives you agree with. If you feel that none of the alternatives are appropriate, describe your own alternative. Use and reference the National Society of Professional Engineers Code of Ethics and/or the American Society of Civil Engineers Code of Ethics to support your conclusion. Typically, memorandums have the word "Memorandum" in bold, centered at the top of the page, followed by an "information block" that is left-justified. This information block has four fields, each on a separate line: To, From, Date, and Subject. There is more information on memos here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/pw/p_memo.html . Use 12- point Arial font, single-spaced, and left-justify the text of the memorandum. Use three paragraphs to comprise the text: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Each paragraph may be brief, but must be well written. Number the page using the format page number/total pages (i.e., 1/1), bottom center. Also read (no write-up required) the second Ethical Dilemma and be prepared to discuss in class. |
