Geoffrey Judd was one of thirty-three students honored at
the Tenth Annual Outstanding Student of the Year Awards
ceremony held on Monday, January 8, 2001, at the 80th Annual
Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in
Washington, DC.
After receiving his bachelor's degree at the University
of Idaho (UI), Judd continued his studies at the university
and received his master of science degree in civil
engineering in December 2000. Judd served as student chapter
president of the UI student chapter of the Institute for
Transportation Engineers (ITE) while attending UI. In that
position, Judd helped chapter adviser Zaher Khatib organize
a series of seminars between the University of Idaho and
Washington State University featuring guest speakers with a
wide range of expertise in transportation. He was also on
the student chapter team that captured second place in a
Traffic Bowl held by the ITE Quad 2000 Conference. Geoffrey
Judd is employed by engineering consultants Kittelson &
Associates, Inc. of Portland, Oregon. His current work
involves analysis and report preparation for traffic impact
studies and transportation system plans. Geoff’s research
interests are traffic management and traffic control
strategies. His masters’ thesis topic was linear
optimization methods for oversaturated arterials, a result
of working on a research project with NIATT, which was
funded by DOT’s University Transportation Centers grant
program. Judd was also the recipient of a TransNow
fellowship. He presented a paper (coauthored with his
advisor, Zaher Khatib), “Control Strategy for Oversaturated
Signalized Intersections,” at the 80th Annual Meeting of the
Transportation Research Board. |
